Building on the conversations begun in our fall “Valuing Voices, Voicing Values” workshop series, the Center for Integrative Studies in the Arts and Humanities (CISAH) invites the IAH community to join us for our Spring 2026 workshops exploring on-going conversations about AI in the classroom, innovative approaches to assessment, online asynchronous teaching, and ensuring accessibility for all our students.
Recognizing that AI has – and will likely continue to – shape our teaching and our students’ learning, our February workshop will offer an opportunity for IAH instructors to reflect on “AI: Where Are We Now?” (Thursday, February 12, 12:00pm-1:30pm, 120 Linton Hall). We will share the most recent guidance from CAL and MSU before opening the conversation to address the challenges, opportunities, and on-going questions that come from teaching in the era of AI. Click here if you’d like to RSVP for this workshop.

As online assessment becomes increasingly vulnerable to AI, our March workshop will focus on “Innovative In-Person Assessment in the AI-Era” (Friday, March 20, 10:30am-12:00pm, Zoom). Together, we will consider how in-class writing, in-person exams, and other assessment activities might be used in the IAH classroom. We will also address concerns about the accessibility of such in-person assessment and offer resources to ensure all our students are able to share their ideas and demonstrate their learning.
We will end the semester with a workshop on “Online Asynchronous Engagement, Assessment, and Accessibility” (Friday, April 10, 10:00am-11:30pm, Zoom). Designed to support instructors as we reflect on the semester and look ahead to online asynchronous summer teaching, this workshop will feature experts from CTLI and CAL discussing strategies for creating engaging online courses and effective assessments, all while maintaining accessibility.
Across this series of workshops, we aim to draw on the experience of our community and provide support for our instructors as we work to uphold IAH’s mission to “empower students to more deeply reflect on, understand, inquire about, and transform the world around them.” We hope to see you this spring!
