Korean IAH 211 B T-Shirt Contest

In her IAH 211B course, Reinventing "Korea" in the Global World, Professor Catherine Ryu implemented an experiential learning activity called Korean T-Shirt Contest. As Professor Ryu says:

The aim of this contest is to enrich my students’ experiential learning by encouraging them to bring together their newly acquired knowledge of Korean culture and language in a creative way.
The students create the class T-shirt logo, which includes some letters of the Korean alphabet, an iconic motif of Korean culture (either traditional or contemporary), and the name of the course (Korean IAH 211B).
On March 19, those students who have submitted their entries by March 17 gave brief presentations on their designs, and the rest of the class voted for the Class T-Shirt Logo.
Once the t-shirts were delivered, we wear them as often as possible, for example, when we attend special lectures on Korea, when we have group project presentations, and when we participate in the Korea Coffee House to converse with Korean students (my former students even wore their class t-shirts on the day of the final examination!).

Creating the Korean class logo and wearing the class t-shirts is not only learning experience but also an effective way of enhancing the visibility of the Korean studies program and of the CISAH on campus and beyond.
